It's been a little over 40 days since I stepped away from Twitter to detox my mind and spirit. There are a number of conclusions I reached at the end of this journey.
First, I have some amazing followers who still tag me on posts despite my hiatus. The fact y'all still think of me warms my heart. Thanks you guys. I couldn't ask for better followers.
Second, this time away to lean into my studies has been beneficial on a level I can't describe. I've blown through more sketch pages in a single sketch pad in the past month than I have since I started it last June. In part due to necessity, but no small part because I didn't have a major distraction in my life (Twitter) during that time.
Third, after peeking at my feed, I'm reminded again why I stepped away. It's much of the same old doom-scroll bait, useless info, nothing particularly fun. Few on my feed are producing what I want to consume. Doesn't mean I don't like the people behind the accounts in some capacity, but what Twitter is choosing to show me, I don't have the patience for, nor do I have the time or desire to correct.
Fourth, my hiatus will continue. Aside from my third conclusion listed above, I don't have much to offer my followers at this time. I'm neck deep in my studies and about to be nose deep moving forward for the next couple of years. Instead of worrying about "keeping up", by posting and engaging just to do so, I'd be better off focusing on my craft. I'm not worried about my follower count or my following in general. My real homies will stick around and will be there when I make my return (somehow my follower count went up since I've been gone? wtf?). When I return, I'm not sure myself. It's addicting to see how much I can knock out when Twitter isn't on my mind. Knocking out 50 pages of a 100 page sketchbook in 4 weeks is a dopamine blast and makes me feel better compared to whatever garbage I could toss out or consume online.
I'll remind people who truly want to keep up with me that I have a Patreon. I charge nothing because again, I have nothing worth offering to pay for. I focus primarily on my art there, making the occasional progress post.
I wish all of you the best and thanks for being such great followers!
