The Boundless Frontier

Modern cultural critics are quick to whine about the decline of modern civilization, espousing how man is deteriorating due to lack of frontiers to conquer. Once, America conquered the Western Frontier and launched men into the Final Frontier of space. While efforts have been made to develop technology so we can explore this final frontier, in the meantime, modern man is stuck in gravity with nothing left to explore.

Contemporary wisdom tries to fill this void by calling men to hedonistic pleasures of money and sex. How many gurus of the masculine sex prescribe a man's answer based on how much money he's making, how productive he is, and how much sex he's having? These are the dead end pursuits modernity would call men to.

Let's set up the ideal situation, a man is an unstoppable force every time he walks into the office, crushing everyone beneath his feet, attaining all the money, all the fame, and then he goes home to bed innumerable women, then what? What has that man actually gained? It is laughable in comparison to our ancestors who waged war to conquer inferior tribes, who raised monuments which dwarf even our tallest buildings, and produced art which puts our modern efforts to shame. Even if we were to apply an archaic standard to our own time, the corners of the world have been mapped, territorial lines have been drawn, conquest of additional territories would be met with swift and lethal response. Until space travel has fully matured, there is no real frontier a man can conquer and modern demands of society so great, what is man's alternative?

Imagination.

Imagination is the boundless frontier man still has to explore; it has been with us since the dawn of time, and it will remain with us until the end of days. Imagination is what built great empires, conceptualized what modern culture critics salivate over, and made real. The depths of imagination are endless and what can spring forth can give man a sense of adventure.

It is thanks to imagination, man can create his own worlds to explore and through his creativity, he can share it with others. It is through this imagination a man can keep the mysteries and wonders of the world alive and keep that spirit of adventure thriving in the hearts of other men.

The same critics who complain about the culture war, how good art isn't being made, also dismiss anything that nurtures imagination or is a product of it. The biggest meme is the criticism of videogames being a waste of time.

Notice the false comparison here. Simple playing videogames, even casually, is far greater a sin than having immoral casual sex. In their minds, sex is a real thing, the material is all important, but the videogames you play which let you explore faraway lands, is a lie. You should have spent that time grinding away so you could afford to travel to real places far away. Christ will punish you for playing videogames, reeeee!

Meanwhile, this loser (that's what he is) and his losing side, reject a product of a multi-billion dollar culture impacting industry and still have the nerve to complain about how the West is declining.

Ignore these weenies, they spew hot air, trying to relive days which no longer exist. It's all a fantasy. . . How ironic.

For any modern man who still seeks adventure, knowing he doesn't have the means or desire to travel or raise campaign in the financial world, consider the arts. In the arts, you can make any world you want, however you want, explore it, develop it, and share it with others. There are plenty of people who would pay you to join you on that adventure. There's nothing wrong with that and there's nothing to lose. The world of imagination is boundless, it is yours to explore, to conquer, and it will never cease to be a source of adventure.
